Farhan Akhtar is an Indian director, actor, producer, screenwriter, playback singer and a television host. He was born on 9 January 1974 in Mumbai to a father Javed Akhtar who is a screenwriter and mother Honey Irani. He has a sister Zoya Akhtar who is a writer-director.
He started his career as an assistant director in the film Lamhe and Himalaya Putra in 1997. After that, he found his own production house named Excel Entertainment along with Ritesh Sidhwani. He made his first film as a director in 2001 Dil Chahta Hai by which he won a National Award. The film received mixed reviews. In 2004, he made his next film Lakshya.
In the same year, he had his Hollywood debut by the soundtrack of Bride and Prejudice. In 2006, he made his first commercial success film Don. He also directed a short film Positive in 2007. In addition of directing films, he began his acting career in 2008 by the film Rock On!! By which he won his second National Award. Next, he appeared in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in 2011 in which he wrote the dialogues and produced also. After that he made the film Don 2 which became blockbuster at the box office. In 2016, he appeared in the biopic of Milkha Singh ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. He also starring in the film Wazir and Dil Dhadakne Do.
